Laurent Giai-Miniet pitches EnOcean
Ecosummit TV: Laurent Giai-Miniet pitches the late stage cleantech startup EnOcean at ECO12 Berlin. EnOcean provides wireless energy harvesting technology for smart green buildings and has become the de facto standard for batteryless building and home automation. Sensors and switches powered by EnOcean modules are used to control the lighting, heating and cooling of rooms depending on room occupancy and other variables such as open or closed windows. Ecosummit TV: Marie-Anne Brodschii, VP Innovation at Veolia, explains how Veolia drives cleantech innovation and how the cooperation with startups works in practice. The French corporate has got cleantech in its DNA and is pretty big: 230.000 employees generate €29.6B revenues and are active on 5 continents. Veolia’s business is focused on the management of water, waste, energy and energy efficiency. In fact, Veolia is very open towards smart green innovation coming from startups. To foster open innovation, Veolia launched the Veolia Innovation Accelerator (VIA) 2 years ago.

Peter Krebs pitches the green building software startup Sefaira
Ecosummit TV: Peter Krebs, Co-Founder and CTO of Sefaira, presents the UK-US startup at Ecosummit Berlin. Sefaira provides a web platform for the design, construction and retrofit of sustainable and energy efficient buildings. The startup was founded in 2009 and recently raised €8.5M ($10.8M) from Braemar Energy Ventures, Chrysalix SET and Hermes GPE. Green architecture is a big trend which is also accelerated by new laws. In the UK, by 2016, all new homes and commercial buildings must have a net zero carbon footprint in order to receive construction permission.

Gorka Espiau pitches Hiriko – the first foldable electric city car designed for car sharing
Ecosummit TV: Gorka Espiau, Head of International Programmes at Hiriko, pitches the Spanish EV startup at ECO12 Berlin. Hiriko aims at reinventing sustainable social mobility in smart green cities by building a foldable electric vehicle optimised for car sharing that was originally invented at the MIT Media Lab. The networked city car shall only be offered in car sharing fleets which is a pretty disruptive distribution strategy. The first prototype is available and Hiriko is looking for investors who want to accelerate their vision of sustainable urban mobility.

Weniger Autos ist mehr – Intelligent in die automobile Zukunft
Mein Gastbeitrag für den Daimler Blog vom 06.09.11: Reduce to the max, finde ich, ist auch heute noch ein gutes Beispiel visionärer Kreativität, gerade weil dieser Werbeslogan bereits 1997 von Smart erfunden wurde. In meiner Vision ist die Mobilität der Zukunft nachhaltig und sozial, denn immer mehr Kunden konsumieren ökologisch und ökonomisch zugleich. Sozial ist, wenn wir Autos gemeinsam effizienter nutzen. Nachhaltigkeit verpflichtet uns, unsere Autos mit erneuerbarer Energie anzutreiben. Das englische Zauberwort dafür ist Sustainable Social Mobility und beschreibt einen intelligenten Weg in die automobile Zukunft.

At ECO11, Klaus Dibbern, CEO of Flinc, pitched his dynamic ride sharing startup to investors and was interviewed by our Ecosummit TV moderator Ane Mari Aakernes. Flinc matches people that want to join the social mobility network to share rides to make money (driver) or save money (passenger). If you share rides in shared cars including taxis then we like to call it Sustainable Social Mobility. That’s the future of mobility.
